Nominations - WA Women's Hall of Fame
Locally, the centrepiece of IWD 2012 will be the continuation of the WA Women's Hall of Fame.
This unique awards program will be dedicated to our unsung heroines from all walks of life, from all over our State.
Inductees to WA Women's Hall of Fame will be a mix of prominent contributors, past and present, living and no longer with us, young and old, high-profile and little known.
The 2012 WA Hall of Fame inductees will be selected for distinction in one of the following five categories.
- Expanding women's voice, leadership and participation
- Ending violence against women
- Strengthening women's peace and security
- Enhancing women's economic empowerment
- Promoting gender equality
Selection Criteria
The IWD WA Collaboration will make up the selection panel, assessing nominations based on the following criteria:
- Excellence in her chosen field of endeavour
- Significant contribution to the WA and Australian community and economy
- An inspirational role model for young women
- Degree of difficulty of the achievement and related sacrifices made
- Future goals and likely impact
- Voluntary work beyond paid employment
The IWD WA Collaboration will evaluate all nominations, and make the final decision on who will be WA Women's Hall of Fame inductees.
WA's Women's Hall of Fame new members will be inducted on March 8, 2012 at Government House, in the Ballroom.
Eligibility Criteria
- Except in the case of posthumous nominations, nominees must be residents of Western Australia
- Self nominations will not be accepted.
- Nominees must be at least 16 years of age on 8 March, 2012.
- Current members and employees of the UN Women Perth chapter committee and International Women's Day Steering committee are not eligible.
In ensuring that the WA Women's Hall of Fame inductees are representative of our diverse state, consideration may be given to:
- Age
- Remote, regional, city locations
- Ethnicity
- Field of endeavour
Nominations
Up until 5:00pm, Tuesday 31 January, 2012, you can nominate any West Australian woman who meets the Selection and Eligibility criteria.
Nominations must be submitted on the official WA Hall of Fame - Online Nomination Form.
Entries will not be accepted after COB on 5:00pm, Tuesday 31 January, 2012.
